For many years Robert Hughes Limited has been a major player in the field of residential development in the Lake District and North Lancashire. Our speciality has been the conversion of redundant buildings to provide homes of high quality on select developments. Since 2004 we have been working closely with the Eric Wright Group through our joint-venture company, Applethwaite Limited, which has produced several acclaimed developments. These include The Ferry House, comprising thirteen luxury apartments set in an unrivalled position on the shores of Lake Windermere and The Royal, a landmark mixed retail and residential scheme in the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere.
In March 2008 Robert Hughes and Applethwaite became wholly-owned by the Eric Wright Group. The merger provides us with an exciting opportunity to bring our expertise and our commitment to quality house-building and mixed schemes to a wider market in new locations.
We will continue to pursue luxury residential projects as before, but will also focus on higher volume schemes, working with the Eric Wright Group on their new ventures such as the regeneration of Blackburn’s Cathedral Quarter and the redevelopment of a key site in Ripon Town Centre.
